At some point in our lives, we all have that 'special' teacher who just loves to play around with colours, day in day out. She colour blocks Monday-Friday, but then we just think gheeez this lady must be insane to wear all that colour at once, but hey am certain she must be proud now, to see her sort of fashion statements trending. So now, fast forward a few decades and color block is back in style, bright and even better. As evidenced by the Spring 2011 runways collections of various designers like, Gucci, Jil Sander, Prada, Christopher Kane and Louis Vuitton.
The colours are flamboyant and includes Emerald, purple, pink, aqua, green, yellow, red, black, gray color and a selection of grassy green mixed and matched with fuchsia and orange, fluorescent yellow with pink, indigo with red, which gives the wearer a refreshing, feminine and sophisticated look.

Tips: Always remember less is more. When color blocking, there are no rules for sure. However, knowing what color looks best on you should be your no.1 guideline. Try out with single color-blocked piece, such as a top, skirt or handbag, just to ease your way into the trend. Then mix solid and colourful separates as inspired by the Gucci spring collections 2011. Never put too many pieces with too many different color, three to four colours would be a perfect combination. You could also combine bright and neutral colours, then accessorise with handbags, jewellery and shoes in bright color.
